Valentine’s Day Weekend Getaway

Valentine’s Day Weekend Getaway

For our Valentine's Day weekend, Tracy and I decided to book a two night get away in MuiWo. There were a number of highlights to our trip. The transport, food, accommodations, hiking up to Lantau Peak and picture taking were all pretty cool. We decided to start our adventure off right after work on Friday. We both made our way to Tung Chung and then took the 3M bus to MuiWo, where we spent two nights at the Sea View Hotel. Yes, the rooms are a little bit small, but the price was reasonable, the decorations were contemporary and it…

I have been doing this for several years now. Feel free to check out favourite pics from 2023, 2022, 2021, and 2020. A New Camera In March of this…
Making the Best of Luminous Eggs

Making the Best of Luminous Eggs

The Hong Kong government paid more than a million dollars to decorate the city with luminous eggs to attract people from other countries and those already living in Hong Kong to come out and enjoy a festive happy environment. Tracy and I went to visit the egg decorations near Admiralty Station in Tamar Park. One article describes it as egg-citing. Here's another article on it in Chinese. We were making the best of these luminous eggs. We saw lots of people enjoying themselves. Singles, married couples, Muslim ladies wearing their hair coverings and more. The skyline in Tamar Park is…

Favourite Photos From 2023

Here's my updated favourite photos of the year. These where all taken in 2023. When it comes to buildings and architecture, Hong Kong is a photographer’s paradise. Where do you start? There are just so many amazing buildings. Of course, you should definitely go to the Peak. We had friends visit this year and we took them to the Peak. It’s the most iconic site for shooting Hong Kong’s high rises. There’s a Pacific Coffee right there as well. It is nicely situated to offer a great view. It offers modern design and the familiar comfort of your favourite tea…
2022 Highlights

2022 Highlights

Recently, I was reviewing my favourite pictures from 2021, and I realized that I hadn't made a favourites blog for last year yet. Well, I know this is a little bit late, but I thought I would take this opportunity to share some of the highlights of 2022 by way of both pictures and a few videos. A number of these are scenery pictures. I really like this first one and it is super close to my village house. Tracy calls this my secret garden. I like going back here for quiet and it offers a chance to enjoy nature.…

Highlight Videos from February 2023 Home visit

It's been four and half years since I was last home, so this visit was long over due. I spent about 2 weeks visiting with family and friends in Rochester NY. Then took a road trip with my parents to visit my sister and her family in Virginia. Her boys have really grown a lot since I last saw them. Then mom, dad and I took the Auto Train to Florida. In this blog, I will show you the highlight videos from different parts of my visit. Time with My Relatives https://vimeo.com/807485573 I am so thankful things worked out for…
2021 Rediscovering My Favourite Pictures

2021 Rediscovering My Favourite Pictures

A lot can happen in a year and this year is no exemption. Sometimes in the busyness of every day life we forget about our pictures. I usually have a sense of a picture being good or not good when I take it, but not always. Sometimes a picture sits for months and may even be forgotten, but these pictures are worth rediscovering. Anyway, I just want to encourage you to take some time to sort through last years pictures. What did you take that was worth remembering? Here are some of my favourites from 2021. The first several ones…
A Video Adventure at Sai Wan Beach

A Video Adventure at Sai Wan Beach

Getting to the Beaches A few years ago, I went to Sai Wan Beach. At the time, I didn’t know that Sai Wan Beach is one of 4 beautiful beaches located in Tai Long Wan Bay in the Sai Kung Country Park. Also previously I went by public transportation. This time I decided to film a video adventure so I brought my camera gear along on my motorcycle, but didn’t realize the park officials no longer allow buses and private vehicles to enter the park. Therefore, I had an hour and 20 minute walk in front of me before even…
Notable Videos From 2020

Notable Videos From 2020

Choosing my favorite videos for 2020 wasn't that difficult. I just didn't shoot many videos this year. Given that everyone was on alert due to COVID and a number of places were closed and we couldn't really travel outside of Hong Kong, I think I did okay. I have included one video that I edited for my students to study English with. No I do not have the copywrites from Disney for it. I am simply using it to encourage students to learn English and overcome fear. There are a lot of Heffalumps that need to be vanquished. Christopher Robin…
2020 Pictures – Album of Favourites

2020 Pictures – Album of Favourites

Hey Everyone, Some months ago, I was reading a photography blog that suggested choosing your favorite pictures each month and then at the end of the year putting together an album of favourites. I liked the idea. Admittedly, I don’t take the time every month to stop and reflect on my pictures. There probably were some good shots that I missed. None the less, here are 19 favourites that I would like to share with you. Hope you enjoy. Chinese New Year with masks was different, but it set the tone for the rest of the year. As usual all…
