We’ve been shooting campus related video events for a few years now, but finding students who are willing to appear on camera and making the technical side of things come together have all been challenging. This year marks a bit of a milestone for us. The school bought some really nice camera gear. So it seemed like a good opportunity to talk about the new equipment as a promotional video. We need new helpers for Sports Day and we need to train our current students so that they can get better at filming and being on camera. Last week we showed our 2 minute promotional video in a morning assembly. No it wasn’t perfect, but it wasn’t bad either. Hopefully, our efforts will encourage the students who participated and attract new students as well.
Morning Assembly Viewing

Everyone is short on time, so trying to organize a video shoot and have people show up for it is not easy. Yes, we tried using the 20-30 minute time slots around lunch time, and that worked for getting everyone their lines and doing a few short readings, but it wasn’t nearly enough. Then we had 2 people drop out. Thankfully we were able to find 2 actors to replace them, and we made it work. For us the breakthrough came by way of scheduling a 2 hour video shoot during the schools staff meeting. Ms. Hirika and I are both foreigners, so we were able to use filming as an excuse to be excused from the staff meeting. Also being staff meeting the other teachers weren’t able to schedule any activities to conflict with our video shoot.
Thanks Pental for Shooting These

I want to give a shoot out to our cast and crew. Good job cast – Anna, Tiffany, Cherish, Ocean, and Pental. Good job crew – Eason and Alex. Was our production perfect? Far from it. There were many mistakes, but we made a lot of progress in a short amount of time. Each of the actors made their parts come alive and we are proud of them. For the tech crew, we didn’t have enough time. Yes, we know the main camera isn’t wide enough and the B camera is sometimes out of focus. There are a bunch of other problems that I could list, but I don’t want to detract from the fact that we pulled it off. We brought this short video to life.
2 Minute Promotional Video
Thanks everyone who played a role in making it happen.
