Looking for a break from city life. Check out ChengChau island. There are plenty of Hong Kong snacks shops to eat at as you meander around the town. There are no buses or taxis; people go everywhere by foot or by bicycle. So life feels a little bit more chill. You can easily rent a boat, go for a swim, eat BBQ or take a walk around the island. It only costs 21 dollars and takes about an hour to get there by ordinary ferry. Of course, if you are in a hurry you can pay a little more go by fast ferry and reduce that time. But why not take a friend with you enjoy the ride, take in the sights of the island, and visit some of the local shops and restaurants. Here are some of my favourite shots from last year’s visit.

This picture reflect the culture of many local restaurants. The staff work hard and offer tasty food and good service.
BBQ in the evening is a favourite for many locals. It’s a very welcoming environment. The food is flavorful and the price is cheap. What’s not to like.
Here’s another restaurant picture. This is a very topical laid back scene of peoples’ every day lives.
After all the eating is done, here’s what it looks like.
Most of the eateries have space to eat outside. I wonder what the girl in the overalls is laughing about? Anyway, enjoy the fresh air and take cover from the sunshine.
I’m guessing this a mom who decided to rent a bike and take her son around the island. I imagine them having a good time together.
The boss doesn’t look very happy. I wonder what’s up. Maybe business is slow.
Everyone sort of competes for the same space. Bicycles tend to go first, but people are generally pretty patient.
Here’s the main road that goes from one side of the island to the other side. There are hotels, hostels and places to eat.
